All leather poufs are handcrafted using traditional hand tools during the whole process. Handcrafted products may have some minor natural age marks on leather, this all adds to their individual character.

Because of light problems during photographing process and screen chromatic aberrations, color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected.

Please note: Oil from a brand new Pouffe may transfer to other fabrics, so until it has settled in we recommend placing it on paper or card and avoiding contact with other furnishings.

The Moroccan Leather Ottoman - Deep Red is the product you didn't think you need, but once you have it, something you won't want to live without.

Deep Red — A Study in Quiet Richness

Deep Red — A Study in Quiet Richness

    The Making

The rounded form is built from separate pieces of leather. Across the top, the panels gather around a circular centre; down the sides, their longer lines give the pouf its rhythm. The joining stitches remain visible, tracing how the cover is assembled.

Deep red thread sits close to the colour of the leather. Rather than drawing a sharp outline, it lets the construction emerge through texture and shadow. At the centre, a floral rosette and angular star geometry offer a finer point of attention.

The leather catches light unevenly across the curves, revealing grain, small creases and changes in depth of colour. These details soften the repeated panel shapes and give the surface more interest than a perfectly uniform finish.

    Collector’s Note

We chose Deep Red for its richness without brightness. The wine-toned leather has presence, but the closely matched thread keeps the overall impression composed. The embroidery is there to be discovered rather than to compete with the colour.

We like it beside ivory linen, warm oak and the quieter objects that accumulate around a favourite chair. Its rounded shape introduces a softer note among straight furniture lines, while the darker colour gives the arrangement depth.

What makes this version distinctive is the way colour and construction work together. From across the room, a generous burgundy form. Closer, a network of seams and a small embroidered centre. Each distance offers something different.

Depth in the colour. Character in the seams.

This item is featured in: Round Ottomans from Leather Poufs Ottomans Gallery

The round Moroccan leather ottoman is one of the oldest continuously produced objects in the Moroccan craft tradition — known in Moroccan dialect as the Stormia, rooted in Ottoman and Arab seating culture, refined over centuries by the artisans of Fès and Marrakesh into the form you see here.

Each ottoman in this collection is hand-stitched from full-grain goatskin, vegetable-tanned in the traditional tanneries of Morocco and dyed with natural pigments — saffron, poppy, indigo, henna. The embroidery is worked by hand in silk or metallic thread. No two pieces are identical. The leather develops a rich patina with use, deepening in colour and warmth over years.

Available in a range of natural dye colours — cognac, deep red, tan, ivory, turquoise, pistachio, orange — and in natural oil-tanned leather. Each piece is sourced directly from the maâlem who made it.

    More Than a Store

Moroccan Corridor was not created to sell Moroccan products. It was created to preserve, celebrate, and share the remarkable craftsmanship traditions that have shaped Morocco for centuries.

Every object we present begins long before it reaches a home. It begins with a material, a place, a workshop, and the hands of an artisan whose knowledge has often been passed down through generations.

Our role is simple: To identify exceptional craftsmanship and bring it to those who value authenticity, beauty, and cultural heritage.

We do not manufacture. We do not mass-produce.

    We select.

    Frequently Asked Questions

We make everything ourselves — no third-party suppliers, no resellers. We control the entire process: material selection, manufacturing, finishing, and quality control. We communicate directly — real answers from the people who create your product.
Each of our ottomans is handcrafted by skilled Moroccan artisans using centuries-old techniques. The leather is carefully hand-stitched and embroidered with traditional geometric patterns using Sarma — a wool thread hand-loomed into a robust cord. Our artisans use vegetable-tanned leather and natural dyes, ensuring each piece develops a unique character and beautiful patina over time.
Our Moroccan ottomans are individually crafted by hand from 36 pieces of leather, meaning no two pieces are exactly alike. Unlike machine-made alternatives, our poufs feature genuine leather tanned using traditional methods, hand-stitched seams for superior durability, and authentic Sarma embroidery patterns passed down through generations. The craftsmanship ensures they last for decades rather than years.
Authentic Moroccan ottomans show signs of handcraftsmanship — slight variations in stitching, natural leather texture and grain, hand-embroidered Sarma patterns with minor imperfections that prove human artistry, and a distinctive leather scent from natural tanning. Mass-produced imitations typically use synthetic materials, perfect machine stitching, and printed rather than embroidered designs.
With proper care, a genuine handcrafted Moroccan leather ottoman can last 20+ years or even generations. The vegetable-tanned leather actually improves with age, developing a rich patina. The hand-stitched construction is far more durable than glued or machine-stitched alternatives, and the natural materials are more resilient than synthetic substitutes.
Yes, each ottoman directly supports skilled artisan families in Morocco who have preserved these traditional leatherworking techniques for generations. Your purchase helps sustain their craft, provides fair wages, and keeps these cultural traditions alive for future generations.
Moroccan leather is naturally durable and low-maintenance. Simply wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth for cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals or excessive water. The leather will naturally develop a beautiful patina over time. Occasional conditioning with natural leather care products will keep it supple and enhance its longevity.
Moroccan Corridor offers authentic handmade pieces, not mass-produced replicas. We exclusively use real organic goat leather, hand stitching, and Sarma cactus silk embroidery. 80% of our poufs are handcrafted in our Marrakesh workshop, while the remaining 20% are handcrafted in our Tetouan workshop. Our poufs are shipped directly from our workshops to customers worldwide — no intermediaries. We manufacture what we sell, which gives us full flexibility for customization.
