Leather bags

The brand offers beautifully handcrafted and hand tooled leather bags, wallets, clutch bags, portfolios, satchels, belts, footwear and Office bags.

Made from genuine Leather, created and handcrafted by master artisans from Morocco and inspired by Moroccan Heritage, Culture and History.

Moroccan Corridor® bag is a combination of geometric designs, symmetry, & vibrant colours that intrigue the eyes.

Moroccan Corridor® bag designers have chosen to embellish it entirely with Moroccan design art forms. This beautiful, detailed technique was inspired by a traditional Moroccan craft called tooling. Used as way to enhance and add ornate details to saddles in the equestrian world, Moroccan Corridor® artisans meticulously adapted this technique, drawing by hand Moroccan design patterns.

Putting a contemporary twist on an ancestral art form, Moroccan Corridor® bags take us on a voyage of discovery within the circle, delineating patterns that repeat through different symmetries, like tiling and plaster carvings of North Africa and geometric patterns in Islamic art…

A new line of Moroccan Corridor® ethnic handbags has been launched in 2017 under the registrated mark LSSAN. This line of handbags constitues today the flagship product of Moroccan Corridor® leather bags.

The LSSAN brand - لسان

The word LSSAN comes from the Arabic word LISSAN which means "Tongue". LISSAN is pronounced LSSAN in the dialects of North Africa, especially in Morocco.

With its special shape, where the lower part of the front of the bag looks like a tongue, the choice of the name LSSAN for this collection were naturally obvious.

The LSSAN label is inspired by the Moroccan tradition of leather, where craftsmen excel in artistic representation on leather, through geometric signs, the Amazigh alphabet (Berber) or simply by drawing inspiration from the rich and diverse nature of the country.

Our artisans are artists who express themselves through these anthropological works and invite you to discover the Moroccan handicraft in all its forms, and to experience the charm of different cultures and places in Morocco. »

Moroccan Corridor® has about twenty craftsmen and craftswomen working in the fields of leather and textiles, and encourage the protection of craftsmanship by recruiting young people for internships or summer workshops to help them discover and contribute to the preservation of this heritage.

Challenges

Handicrafts preserve and promote cultural and artistic traditions. However, this industry is facing serious setbacks and it is necessary to implement a sustainable program to help artisans and to safeguard the national and cultural heritage which is represented by these crafts.

Industrialization and globalization has negatively affected artisans.  Economies of scale are not available to artisans and production costs are higher. Goods produced in small scale industries cannot compete in open market if the same goods were manufactured on a large scale.

Industrialization has also changed the lifestyles and needs of people which has resulted in handicrafts losing their demand and importance. As industrial products become more sophisticated, handicrafts lose their value, which is threatening the extinction of several crafting techniques.

Two levers for the Moroccan Corridor’s revival and sustainability strategies to face these challenges:

E-commerce to have access to a global market and to sell products to customers all over the world without the need for a physical storefront.

Innovation to merge traditional crafts with modern designs, hence making handicraft business a competetive one, connected to international markets and open to opportunities.

Opportunities

There is a massive demand for handmade products globally. Handmade or artisanal products are high quality and unique, making them desirable for people.

In particular, considered as historic sectors anchored in the Moroccan culture, the leather and home furniture sectors continue to represent one of the sectors with great potential to the export for the Moroccan industry.

Differentiation and upgrading, finished product with higher added, innovation and creativity, responsiveness and service, constitute the framework on which the current and future strategy of Moroccan Corridor® to take part of this poential to the export.

The CEO of Moroccan Corridor® added that « We aspire to amplify our mission and serve as a force for good, creating a more rewarding and sustainable future for our employees, financial professionals, clients, partners and communities. »
