The Hand Behind the Form
Made by hand in Marrakesh, this pouf takes shape through the meeting of individual leather panels. Its zigzag is not simply a pattern placed on a surface: the seams participate in the construction itself. Each change of direction gives the eye another line to follow, turning a familiar domestic object into a small study in rhythm.
Leather does not present a perfectly uniform surface. Grain, subtle shifts of tone, and small variations in stitching give the finished piece its particular character. These details invite a closer look at the work of the hand, without needing an invented story about the maker or a symbolic meaning assigned to the design.
Collector’s Note
What draws us to this design is the balance between a clear square volume and a surface that refuses to stand still. The orange brings warmth; the changing direction of the seams brings movement. Neither needs additional ornament.
Beside quiet upholstery or dark wood, the pouf introduces a confident point of colour while remaining grounded by the texture of leather. It is an object whose presence comes as much from its construction as from its palette.
A simple volume. A restless line. Warmth held in leather.
