Two striped triangular forms meet at a narrow centre. Around them, four smaller slanted shapes hold their distance, suspended in a generous field of turquoise. A fine red border draws the composition together without taking attention from the open weave.
The Hand
Mizan’s hand-loomed surface asks to be seen close up. Small changes in thread spacing, the relief of the embroidery, and the irregular line of the stitched edge give the textile its particular rhythm. The corner tassels are modest finishing gestures, not a frame of decorative fringe.
The Geometry
The central figure feels balanced because its two sides face one another, joined at their narrowest point. The smaller corner forms repeat its striped structure without copying its outline. This is a reading of the visible arrangement, not a claim about a fixed cultural meaning or the maker’s intention.
Collector’s Note
What draws us to Mizan is the amount of space it leaves untouched. Turquoise carries the mood; red and pale stitches offer just enough contrast to make the geometry legible. Against ivory cotton, weathered wood, or cognac leather, it brings colour with an unusually restrained sense of composition.
Two forms meet. The colour holds the rest.
