The Weave
A diamond sits within a larger diamond. Beyond it, raised ivory lines travel across a quiet beige ground, meeting and continuing towards the edges. The composition is clear, but the wool keeps it from becoming rigid: each line carries small changes in thickness and relief.
The recorded origin of this piece is the Ouarzazate region of Morocco, within the Zanafi weaving tradition. Its woven rug front brings that textile language into a smaller object, complemented by a beige wool blanket back. What draws the eye is the relationship between the compact ground and the raised geometry, not a claim to decode the maker’s intention.
Collector’s Note
We chose this piece for the space it leaves around its pattern. Rather than filling the surface with ornament, the ivory lines allow the beige weave to remain visible. Its slightly rectangular format gives the composition room to unfold without turning it into a long bolster.
Placed against plain linen or beside warm wood, it adds definition through texture rather than a strong colour contrast. The four corner tassels soften the outline, while the geometry gives the cushion a presence of its own.
A clear line. A softer presence.
