The Weave
Across a quiet beige ground, ivory wool gathers into raised lines. Some passages are dense; others leave the woven surface exposed. Light moves between the two, giving the pattern a depth that colour alone could not achieve.
The product’s recorded origin places it within the Zanafi weaving tradition of the Ouarzazate region. Here, our attention rests on what the object itself reveals: the irregular thickness of the raised yarn, the rhythm of the diagonals and the contrast between a compact woven ground and a more expressive surface. These are observations of the finished piece, not claims about the maker’s intention.
Collector’s Note
We chose this cushion for the way it brings presence without a strong colour contrast. Its square format holds a lively arrangement of wool within a restrained palette. On plain linen or beside dark wood, the relief becomes the point of interest, allowing the surrounding space to remain quiet.
For us, its place in a contemporary interior comes from that balance: a clear silhouette, a tactile surface and enough variation to reward a closer look.
Quiet in colour. Alive in relief.
