The Tifinagh script is one of the oldest writing systems in the world — the written form of Tamazight, the language of the Amazigh people of North Africa. For centuries, these symbols have appeared not only in manuscripts but woven into textiles, painted on walls, and tattooed on skin.
On this rug, the symbols are scattered freely — not arranged in rows or columns, but placed as the weaver's instinct dictates. An anthropomorphic figure here. A diamond there. An arrow pointing nowhere in particular, or perhaps pointing home. The composition is spontaneous and deeply intentional at the same time.
Woven by hand in the Middle Atlas over several weeks, this rug is a document of a living tradition. Each symbol carries meaning — protection, fertility, the journey, the eye. Together, they form a conversation between the weaver and whoever chooses to live with her work.
